Vimeiro 2008

Here you can read some reviews that guests sent us, some phrases translated from Swedish and Norwegian guests  sent to us after their stay in our houses during the years.

A tip from the guests is to bring a simple dictionary to Portugal. Engish is known by the younger generations, but not everyone speaks English. You may always find the portuguese people very friendly and helpful and do their best to understand you.

No car is needed, use the good communications instead.

We rented this place for a whole month (March) this year and we had a great time there. The apartment was well equipped and the sea view was great. You could see big ships, ferries and hundreds of small fishing boats with fishermen going on fishing for hours until they went to the harbour. Why didn´t I bring my telescope?

There are a lot of good restaurants nearby and we went to some of them for lunch and we tried the fish menu and we really liked it. Most of all, however, we made lunch and dinner ourselves. Nearby was the market hall and a very well-assorted food supermarket and compared with Sweden it was cheaper to buy food here.

We liked this town very much and visited the old town many times (5 minutes walking away) walking around the narrow lanes with small shops, shopping sometimes but almost always we were sitting down at an open-air café enjoying a bica or a glass of wine, when the weather was acceptable. For us from Sweden the weather was good, average 15 - 17 degrees, 2 rainy days, partly sunshine most of the days.

One of the best things with staying in Setúbal is good communications with bus or train wherever you want to go. We went here by air to Lisbon and didn´t rent a car but have not had any difficulties with travelling around here. You can reach Lisbon in an hour with train or bus and like us go to interesting places like Sesimbra and azeitão by bus and to the old world heritage town Sintra by train, not expensive at all.

We can recommend this apartment and this town if you want to go to central Portugal to examine this area but not like to stay in Lisbon. If you arrive by air to Lisbon in the evening we recommend you to book a taxi in advance through the owner. This stay in Portugal is for us the second one booked through Sofie Broström and we have again been very satisfied with everything.

Cosy and beautiful view

Great place in a very charming area. All facilities you need. Bring your binoculurs and observe dolphines from your kitchenwindow... or anything else you are curious to see - both the Sado delta and the penninsula of Troja give you a spectaculous view from morning to night.
Comfy bed, well equipped kitchen, spacious living/dining room.
When you come home you are always welcomed by a friendly porter.

Apartment at Rua Bernadim Ribeiro

We have really enjoyed our stay here in Portugal. The location is perfect, the apartment is lovely and the city is very fun! We haven’t missed anything, the apartment is really well equipped. For future guests, there is a little terrace by the castle of São Jorge. A pretty view over the city and a very relaxing atmosphere for a drink or a coffee. I really recommend it. Actually the Indian restaurant just around the corner is really nice too. We have been there 4/5 times. We will absolutely stay in this apartment in the future times we visit Lisbon, it has been superb to live here for such a long time.

Villa Crisóstomo, Ruivo and Garcia

A3 Ressurs, a company from Norway rented in October 2007 the three villas in Vimeiro for team building and recovering. They where happy and satisfired with the stay and the exurcions. They wanted to come back to see more of the country in a soon future. We had a nice cooperation with this group and it felt very speciall and different to do a team building in this way. Also a great party was arranged in the houses with a short introduction in pourtugese cooking.

Villa Crisóstomo

We really liked to stay in your nice rustic house. The grown ups enjoyed the calm country side and the younger the more active life that one can find near by. We didn´t discuss if we will come back, only when! The house contributed to make us enjoy our stay, but most of all we liked the friendly pourtugese people.
Berit Stenlund with family

In the middle of the country side but near to everything! A great alternative for familys that don´t need city life to near by, and also not too far. We stayed two familys and one grandmother and lived exilent in this villa.
Thanks and with best regards from Åsa and Lena with familys!

When the morning haze is forced away from the sun, the miles of great walks around wine growings and pumpkin fields, the fragrance from the Atlantic sea.. Sofie,Sergio and he´s parents are friendly and generous people that make you feel more like a friend then a guest. We rented car for one week and the other two we travelled with busses and walked.

Words from renters of apartment in Oeiras

We are allergic to industriall tourism and therefore Oerias is the perfect place for us. There are no souvenir shops, shopping streets, hotels and speciall designed resaurants therefore we liked it a lot. With the train we could cheap and fast travel to Estoril/Cascais or to Lisboa. Short way to the best beach at this part of the coast and low prices on food and dirinks we valuate a lot. We had all our meals at the balcony of the apartment. The portugese peoples friendly, calm and kind reception made our week nice.Takk for oss!
Juli 2007

Ps. We didn´t fancy the fado music so much but Sérgio´s cs has been playing since we came back and remind us about Oieras and Portugal. (cd:

We travelled to Oeiras with two audlts and four kids between 9 and 16 years without knowing so well what we could expect or how the stay that we found on the Norwegan site " was going to be. This ended up beeing perfect for us all, big and small! Near trainstation and near the beach with it´s wonderfull beach with different restaurants. The shopping center is near by and also pool for the kids. Oeiras is a very cosy city with it´s narrow streets and different restaurants and a lovely park. The beach walk is perfekt to walk at night´s and bring your rollerblades, it´s the perfect place for that. The price level is also lower compared with the tourist ghettos. Sofie and Sérgio are really nice people and trustable. If you want to know more you can have my number from Sofie. Med vennlig hilsen Bjarte & Grete Tveito Juli 2006
