Vimeiro, near Lisbon

A typical Portuguese village with farmers growing their own vegetables and fruit and heard their sheep’s. The nature is beautiful with views of fields with growing’s. The sea is nearby with several beautiful beaches to choose between. All of the beaches around are normally not crowded. Vimeiro has one hotel by the sea, GolfMar. They have golf, pool, spa, tennis and horse back riding available. There is also two other pools in the area that you may visit. You also find a National park near.

The restaurants here are cheap, genuine and serve traditional food. Nearest one is about 1,5 km from the houses. Santa Cruz, 10 min drive along the coast is a more touristic place with international restaurants, bars and very popular discos. You can also take surfing lessons.

If you want to go for excursion trip along the sea towards Lisbon throe small fisherman villages and the final stop might be the mountain Sintra. Torres Vedras is the most near big town.

The local market takes place every second Sunday of the month and it’s worth a visit.

Bring a dictionary if you are coming to Vimeiro.

Get around

Direct flight with TAP from Stockholm (4,5h) and other European cities. 45 min with car from Lisbon, 5 min with car to supermarket and a small centre with pharmacy and more. To local store 5 min walk. To the beach "Praia Santa Rita" 4,5Km. Bus to Lisbon 1 km from the house with departures every 1,5h and bus change in Torres Vedras Trip takes 1,5h. We have two bicycles for kids and two in full size to rent.
